You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.
Why do this?
- Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
- Because it will help you focus your own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.
The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.
To help you get started, here are a few questions:
- Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
- What topics do you think you’ll write about?
- Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
- If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?
You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.
Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.
When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.

I am the Marketing director and Founder/CEO of CHNO.life as well as for CHNO Marketing Agency.
CHNO.life is an inspirational adventure YouTube channel that we put out there during COVID because we saw the need for it. We noticed that people were staying inside too much, they were/are afraid to go outside their doors. We are trying to change that mentality. One of the things that will help keep people safe and healthy is the SUN! The sun is the one thing that keeps our earth alive and well, if we don't get enough sun then we will get sick. We also need to be staying active, for our mental health. There is so much that people can do, that doesn't have to cost a lot of money. In fact, people could just go into their backyards or to the park if they don't have a backyard. Anything is better than nothing!
On the business side of things we saw a need there as well. Businesses are struggling to keep their doors open due to COVID. One of the most important things EVERY SINGLE business needs is Marketing. The thing about that is, even before COVID hit, businesses had a hard time with grasping the concept of how important marketing is for their business. It is difficult for anyone, no matter who it is, to pay for something that they just cannot see, touch, hold or get that instant gratification out of. Marketing/Advertising is very important, and people understand that in theory, but putting that into practice is a whole different story. When you have to pay for something that, one, makes you wait for your ROI to come back to you and, two, you have to budget for something that you don't see direct results from, at least not instantly. When you pay for someone to do your taxes you get paperwork and you can see the work they have done, when you pay for your employees you see the work they have put in every week and benefit from those results, when you pay for products for your store you get to see them shelved and then bought, then you get to see the numbers in your account go up when those products are paid for. When you pay for marketing, you do get to see ads, you may get a logo and a brand name, but the increase in customers that you are getting could be a fluke right? OR maybe it's just that time of year where people need your products, how do you know for sure that the influx of customers that are coming in are a direct result of your marketing campaign? That is where people have a hard time. And now that COVID has hit, businesses are even more strapped for cash than ever before. So they are slimming down to the bare bones, anything that is not a necessity must go! But here is the thing... The influx of people you were getting was not a fluke, it was due to the campaign you were running. AND.... Marketing is a necessity. It is so very important ESPECIALLY RIGHT NOW!!!
because so many businesses are going OUT OF BUSINESS, and if you don't do EVERYTHING in your power to get people in through your door, then you may go out of business to. Im not saying it will for sure happen, and I truly hope it doesn't. But Marketing will only help you, not hurt you. The more people know about you, the more people think about you the more they will come to you.
I love my what I do, and am proud of our company. I am always looking forward to another day. Check us out on our website @ CHNO.life!
